IUU Fishing is being increasingly recognized as a threat to U.S. strategic interests around the globe. Whether through impacts to regional economies, global food security, or the sustainability of shared marine resources this pernicious practice has become a paramount concern for many coastal states. The U.S.’ ability to respond to these concerns, in both word and deed, will have a direct impact on our ability to serve as an effective partner and nurture alliances in critical parts of the globe.
