American Tuna (partner since 2008 and FishChoice featured supplier) is a collective of six fishing families from San Diego that specialize in pole-caught MSC-certified albacore tuna. American tuna products are sold both fresh and in shelf-stable cans and are available in numerous high-end retailers throughout the United States.
Blue North (partner since 2014 and FishChoice featured supplier) is a sustainable natural resources company that features fishing as a primary enterprise. The fisheries division of Blue North consists of five longline freezer/processor vessels that primarily target Green-rated Alaskan cod with 100% onboard observer coverage. These vessels focus on quality, as opposed to quantity, and each fish is individually hooked and handled. Freezer longliners are specifically designed to avoid bycatch and have the ability to carefully release any unwanted catch back into the sea with minimal damage.
Cascade Aqua Farms
Cascade Aqua Farms (partner since 2006 and a FishChoice featured supplier) is a Green rated ‘Best Choice’ U.S. Arctic char producer based out of Washington State. Cascade Aqua Farms raises restaurant-quality Arctic char and has the capacity to produce 800-900 thousand pounds per year. Ice-cold snowmelt waters from the Cascade Mountains are fed into land-based, flow-through growing systems that produce strong, healthy fish that are firm in texture and buttery in taste.
The Catfish Institute
The Catfish Institute (partner since 2007) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish around the world. Founded in 1986, the institute works to raise awareness of the many healthy and culinary benefits of genuine U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish, a product which FishWise and the Monterey Bay Aquarium consider to be a “Best Choice.”

Greene Prairie Aquafarm
Greene Prairie Aquafarm (partner since 2010 and FishChoice featured supplier) is Alabama’s first inland farm dedicated to saltwater shrimp. They are committed to sustainable practices that include recycling most of their water, use of low fish-meal feeds, no use of pesticides and antibiotics, and use of best management practices that maximize production efficiency and minimize environmental impact. They have recently been given a green ‘Best Choice’ ranking by the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
EcoFish, Inc. (partner since 2007 and FishChoice featured supplier), formerly Henry and Lisa’s Natural Seafood, is a seafood processor and distributor that is dedicated to “providing only the most sustainable, highest quality, healthiest, all natural, most delicious seafood” to the consumer public.
Iowa’s First (partner since 2014) is a family-run operation located in central Iowa and FishChoice featured supplier. They believe Iowa is an ideal location to work with other farmers to provide a fresh, sustainable product from America’s heartland. Using a recirculating system called “Opposing Flows Technology,” Iowa’s First believes Iowa has the potential to be a leading competitor in aquaculture. Raising an Australian sea bass called Barramundi (Lates calcarifer) Iowa’s First takes pride in producing a fresh product year-round in an environmentally friendly, sustainable setting. Rated ‘Best Choice’ by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch, Barramundi is one of the best sources for Omega 3’s and protein.
Kwik’Pak (partner since 2008 and FishChoice featured supplier) is a buyer and processor of salmon from the Lower Yukon River in a remote area of western Alaska. Kwik’Pak sells only high-quality, sustainable Yukon king salmon, and is dedicated to providing for the community by increasing income and the standard of living to Yukon Delta households.
A FishWise Producer Partner since 2015 and a FishChoice featured supplier, Kuterra is a British Columbia land-based Atlantic salmon facility. Kuterra salmon are grown in land-based tanks that are completely separated from the marine environment, thus eliminating all contact between farmed fish on one hand, and wild salmon, birds, and marine mammals on the other hand. Through strict bio-security measures, the Kuterra operation minimizes risks of disease and parasite transmission, allowing for Kuterra salmon to be grown without antibiotics, pesticides, or hormones. The Kuterra farm uses RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture System) technology to create optimal, stress-free growing conditions for Atlantic salmon. Unlike conventional salmon pens that discharge waste, chemicals, and feed directly into the environment, the Kuterra RAS system captures and composts all production waste and requires 30% less feed to grow fish than ocean-based farms.
Lummi Island Wild
Lummi Island Wild, a partner since 2016 and FishChoice featured supplier, is a seafood co-operative based out of Bellingham, Washington. Lummi Island Wild harvests, sources, processes, and sells truly sustainable seafood from the Salish Sea. Their mission is to promote the respectful and responsible harvesting of wild salmon and to protect the environment for future generations of fish and people. A very unique aspect of their sourcing is their utilization of traditional reef nets to selectively catch salmon. Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch deemed Lummi Island Wild a ‘Best Choice’ in 2013.
Marvesta Shrimp Farms
Marvesta Shrimp Farms (partner since 2010) raise sustainable green-ranked shrimp in Maryland and deliver fresh products to restaurants and consumers. Marvesta uses a zero-exchange recirculating system allowing for environmentally friendly shrimp farming and is considered a green-ranked “Best Choice” by the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
A FishWise Producer Partner since 2014, McAdam’s Fish specializes in MBA Green rated, MSC certified, pole & line caught albacore tuna from the Pacific Northwest or South Pacific (depending on the season). Wholly owned and operated by California native Rob McAdam, McAdam’s Fish is dedicated to serving the needs of buyers of all sizes and takes pride in offering sushi-grade tuna that is verifiably sustainable and traceable from boat to plate.
Mt Cook Alpine Salmon
Mt Cook Alpine Salmon (partner since 2015 and FishChoice supplier member) raises high-quality freshwater king salmon – a Seafood Watch ‘Best Choice’ – in the cold and pristine glacial meltwater of the Southern New Zealand Alps. This growing environment results in a unique taste and texture profile highlighted by fine marbling and high amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids.
Mt. Lassen Trout
Mt. Lassen Trout (partner since 2015 and FishChoice featured supplier) has been producing rainbow trout since 1949 using cold, fresh spring water that flows from the base of Mt. Lassen. Mt. Lassen Trout produce fingerlings from their own selectively bred broodstock, and once raised to the appropriate size, the trout are moved to “raceway” systems (a Seafood Watch ‘Best Choice’) to reach market size. The raceway systems are kept at a higher water velocity than most farmed trout, creating a trout that is stronger and more muscular.
Passmore Ranch (partner since 2010 and FishChoice featured supplier) is a freshwater fish producer in the foothills of Northern California. Founded in 2005, this ranch utilizes its smaller scale to its advantage by focusing on sustainable husbandry of high-quality black bass, silver carp, white sturgeon, and channel catfish. As farm capacity expands, they also plan to rear freshwater prawns and barramundi. Their fish are currently found in fine Northern California restaurants, grocers, and farmers’ markets.
Pescavore (partner since 2018) is a new player in the shelf-stable seafood category. Their specialty is creating innovative and premium-quality seafood jerkies exclusively from responsibly-sourced, wild-caught seafood, with an emphasis on domestic sourcing.
Focusing exclusively on Green and Yellow rated seafood by the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program, Pescavore is beginning their product line with yellowfin tuna sourced from the U.S. West Coast FAD-free purse seine fishery. Future plans include expanding the product line to include sockeye salmon and other forms of high-value seafood. All product processing takes place domestically in the U.S., leading to a significant positive impact on greenhouse gas emissions and product traceability.

Princess Seafood LLC
Princess Seafood LLC (FishWise Producer Partner since 2015) is an all-female operation skippered by Heather Sears. Based out of Ft. Bragg, CA, Heather’s vessel is the F/V Princess – a 42 foot Seamaster purchased in 2008 that can stow up to eight tons of fish in the holds.
Fishing seven months of the year, Heather and her crew put in long hours in rough seas to troll king and coho salmon in Alaska, troll albacore off the coasts of CA, OR, WA, and B.C., and use fish traps for black cod off of Ft. Bragg. The F/V Princess is one of a small number of salmon boats in the lower 48 that blast freezes salmon on board. Blast freezing is an onboard technology that allows her to create the highest quality frozen fish. Once back in port, the product is shipped to cold storage facilities in Washington and Oregon to remain at a nice chilly temperature of -20F and below until sale.
Riverence (partner since 2018 and FishChoice supplier) is a sustainable, land-based producer of gourmet trout from the U.S.A. Their goal is to produce premium quality, sustainable sources of fine seafood, with the minimal environmental impact on surrounding environments.
Riverence maintains complete control of the quality of their fish from brood to harvest, beginning with their high-pedigree eggs, produced in Washington State. The eggs are then hatched and grown to market size at their farms in Idaho using pure Rocky Mountain spring water. The trout are carefully raised to the highest standards, using no preventative antibiotics, no growth hormones, and no genetic modification. They have been tested to contain 62x less mercury than the FDA’s permissible specification, are high in omega-3 fatty acids, and do not contain microplastics or PCBs. By producing their own premium eggs, managing their own farms, and processing their own fish, Riverence is able to deliver superior, fully traceable fish 365 days a year.
Scottish Seas (partner since 2017) is a co-operative of Scottish fishermen working together to bring the best of wild Scottish seafood to the world in a way that sustains their home communities and the seas they depend upon. The Scottish Seas fleet lands fish in many Scottish ports, including Peterhead, the easternmost point in Scotland and one of the busiest fishing ports in Europe. Scottish Seas is a joining together of three regional fish producers’ organizations (FPOs): Aberdeen FPO, Orkney FPO, and West of Scotland FPO. Currently, 65 vessels are part of Scottish Seas, representing over 200 fishermen.
The Scottish Seas fleet catches a range of North Atlantic species year-round, some of which are already certified to the Marine Stewardship Council standard, with additional certifications underway. Orders for fresh, frozen, and value-added Scottish Seas products are available in most markets. Scottish Seas works with processors, retailers and foodservice partners to develop customized, co-branded, and white label products for specific markets globally.
Seafood Producers Cooperative (SPC)
Seafood Producers Cooperative (partner since 2015 and a FishChoice featured supplier) is North America’s oldest and most successful fishermen’s cooperative whose nearly 600 members use primarily hook & line techniques to target albacore, salmon, halibut, and sablefish. SPC albacore, salmon, halibut, and sablefish are all either Green ‘Best Choice’ by Seafood Watch and/or MSC certified.
Sol Azul (partner since 2009 and FishChoice featured supplier) was founded in 1994 and has become Mexico’s largest controlled producer and exporter of Pacific and Kumamoto oysters, specifically grown for the fresh or half-shell domestic and international markets. Located along the Pacific coastline of Baja California, Sol Azul is fully committed to sustainable and best seafood aquaculture practices.
Sunburst Trout Farms
Sunburst Trout Farms (partner since 2007 and a FishChoice featured supplier) is a family-run operation located deep in the beautiful hill country of western North Carolina. The trout farmers at Sunburst offer a myriad of sustainable and delicious trout products, including fillets, smoked trout, trout caviar, and more. All Sunburst trout products are considered a ‘Best Choice’ by FishWise and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Sun Shrimp (partner since 2014 and a FishChoice featured supplier) is a closed-containment aquaculture facility cultivating Pacific white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) in southwest Florida. At harvest, Sun Shrimp are immediately dipped into an ice slurry for quality preservation. The shrimp then arrive at the packing plant minutes after harvest where they are washed, graded, packed, and ready for shipping all within a couple of hours of harvest. No chemicals, antibiotics, or preservatives are ever used in the growing or feeding processes. Sun Shrimp are available fresh year-round and can be delivered nationwide within 24 hours after harvest.
Tsar Nicoulai Caviar
Tsar Nicolai Caviar (partner since 2008 and FishChoice featured supplier) is a California-based American White Sturgeon farm that produces caviar which is comparable to and can easily replace other unsustainable wild options, such as the well-known Caspian products Beluga and Sevruga. Tsar Nicoulai is internationally recognized for its high-quality, sustainable caviar and many other sustainable products, such as naturally infused roes and Estate smoked sturgeon. Many fine restaurants across the United States carry Tsar Nicoulai products where world-renowned chefs vouch for the quality and flavor. Tsar Nicoulai has also won the coveted James Beard Award for their pioneering efforts and was the first American caviar to be sent to the International Space Station with NASA and SpaceX.
