Annas Shaker, M.A.
As Project Director, Annas promotes international labor standards and decent work in global seafood supply chains. Prior to joining FishWise, Annas was the International Labour Organization (ILO) representative in Kuwait, where he worked with government entities, trade unions and chambers of commerce on ILO’s projects on labor migration, freedom of association, ethical recruitment and workers’ access to justice. Prior to the ILO, Annas was a research fellow at Migrant Rights where he monitored and analyzed issues of trafficking and forced labor among vulnerable groups in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including construction and agricultural workers and fishers. Annas has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering form North Carolina State University and an M.A. in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
