The European Union (EU) has a legal regime to prevent illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing products from entering the European Union (EU) market. Countries identified as non-cooperating against IUU fishing receive a “yellow card” warning. If these countries do not implement sufficient measures against IUU fishing, they risk receiving a “red card,” which means that the seafood caught by their vessels will not be allowed to enter the EU or fish in EU waters. This report provides detailed information on this issue and focuses on the yellow cards to Belize, Solomon Islands, and Thailand.
