FishWise: Coming to a Venue Near You Soon!
FishWise continues to engage the public at all levels, making sustainable seafood education available to the masses. Providing education opportunities to the public on sustainable seafood options can take place in almost any setting, and the take-home messages are custom-tailored to each individual audience. Two of our upcoming events will be taking place in Santa Cruz and San Francisco.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is celebrating the opening of its new Monterey Bay Sanctuary Exploration Center in Santa Cruz, CA on Monday, July 23, 2012. This exciting new green building is located right in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz near the Municipal Wharf, making it easily accessible to all those who come to visit and play on the shores of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Visitors are encouraged to explore the center and check out all of the cool exhibits that include an introduction to the Monterey Bay National Marine sanctuary, an intertidal touchpool with neat ocean critters, and a walk-through kelp forest, among many others. FishWise will be there to participate in the inaugural event, sharing information on local, sustainable seafood options as well as local providers.
Next month, FishWise will be setting up shop at the 2012 Outside Lands Festival! This three-day event (August 10-12, 2012) features an amazing musical lineup, art, food, wine, and beer. In addition to indulging your senses, you will also be able to indulge your inner environmentalist/conservationist at Eco-Lands. Eco-Lands will provide environmental education opportunities to all of the Outside Lands attendees, all while being entirely powered by alternative energy! Stop by to chat with us about how your individual seafood choices impact both local and global marine ecosystems and play our new game for a chance to win a highly coveted FishWise hoodie!
Now that you know where we will be, we here at FishWise hope to see you soon!
