Announcing the New FishWise Executive Director!

Jenny Barker has been named the new executive director of FishWise! 

Barker has lead the organizations international work under the Seafood Alliance for Legality and Traceability (SALT) for the past five years. Jenny has a long-held passion for preserving our oceans and a mind for wholistic sustainability, and we are so excited for the direction her leadership will take the organization! 

“I am glad for the opportunity to lead the innovation happening at FishWise. The organization is in a great place to develop new partnerships with global organizations, universities, and industry to expand our impact,” said Barker, “I have always admired how FishWise takes a comprehensive view of sustainability, and I believe we are in the right place as an organization to broaden our approach.”

With 23 years of experience in the public and private sector managing international programs, Jenny was the Director of the USAID-funded Global FISH Alliance (G-FISH), bringing diverse stakeholders together to identify solutions for better fisheries management in the developing world. Jenny has implemented fisheries management programs in Honduras, Mozambique, and Cambodia. Barker has implemented international health, education, and environmental projects in 10 countries. She graduated with a Masters in Public Administration from George Washington University.

Jenny is a systems thinker who focuses on participatory processes to promote social change on a large scale. Learn more about Jenny.
