Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) Department of Sociology & Social Work offers courses and research in: rural and agricultural development, sociology of education and religion, organization studies and development, human resource management, human resource development, participative management, industrial relations, and labor welfare and social security.

Role in Indian Shrimp Aquaculture: ANU's Department of Sociology & Social Work conducts field-based research on the social dimensions of aquaculture, including labor conditions, gender equity, and community displacement linked to shrimp expansion in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Faculty and students contribute baseline studies, community surveys, and capacity building for farmers and workers, and partner with NGOs and export bodies to generate evidence on occupational health and migrant labor issues within the Indian shrimp value chain.
