Organization Description:

MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), established in 1988, is a not-for-profit trust applying science to rural development challenges, with a major focus on coastal systems, mangrove restoration, and fisher community livelihoods across India.

Role in Indian Shrimp Aquaculture: MSSRF pioneered Integrated Mangrove Fishery Farming Systems (IMFFS) in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, combining aquaculture with mangrove restoration for biodiversity and income generation, and is an active partner in habitat protection efforts in the AP shrimp farming landscape.
