Food and Aquaculture Organization (FAO)
2021
Screenshot of Report Cover

Small-scale fisheries play an essential role in contributing to food security, nutrition, livelihoods, and local and national economies. Despite their relevance to food security and local economies, small-scale fisheries often lack the necessary data to assess their socio-economic contributions and their importance in maintaining sustainable fish stocks.

This document highlights the areas in which data is needed, sources of this data, methodologies for data collection, and examples of case studies.
