THE ORGANIZATION
For almost 20 years, FishWise has worked closely with businesses to advance sustainability in the seafood sector. Through our partnerships and extensive networks, FishWise offers pragmatic approaches and credible guidance for companies to tackle some of the toughest challenges in sustainable seafood, from addressing environmental issues in fisheries and aquaculture production to improving traceability and mitigating risks of human rights abuses in global supply chains. FishWise is unique among sustainable seafood organizations, with a mission equally focused on people and the planet working specifically on human and labor rights. THE POSITION
The Project Manager’s (PM) primary function will be to support FishWise’s business partnerships, including but not limited to lending support for research, data collection, analysis, internal/external communications, business development, operations, and administrative functions. The PM role will be cross-functional in providing support to FishWise’s work depending on fluctuating needs to execute grants, business partner deliverables, or other programmatic needs. The PM will provide the necessary support to ensure FishWise is best positioned to maintain the organization’s trusted relationships with our business partners and to advance FishWise’s mission and strategic plan.
Responsibilities
- Support FishWise’s Market Engagement work in the successful execution of contracts, FishWise services, and ensuring the team is best positioned to provide quality deliverables and exceptional customer service
- Provide administrative and technical support needed to collect and analyze data from business partners and seafood suppliers
- Assess seafood products against environmental sustainability criteria and indicators of traceability, illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUUF), and human rights risks; track and monitor business partners’ progress towards public commitments and due diligence plans
- Draft, format, and/or copy edit reports, briefs, and other communications required for partners or grant deliverables
- Conduct directed research on environmental and social responsibility challenges in fisheries and aquaculture production, supply chain traceability, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing; track and synthesize various market-based conservation initiatives
- As needed, provide administrative support to the market engagement team, including but not limited to scheduling meetings, updating contacts in the CRM, and maintaining knowledge and project management systems at FishWise
- Coordinate across teams at FishWise, providing consistent and clear internal communications
- Become an expert over time in the dynamic field of seafood sustainability and corporate social responsibility, demonstrating business acumen and a willingness to learn and grow professionally
Qualifications
- Academic Background and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in biology or related science plus a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and project management software.
- Strong analytical skills, including data analysis in Excel and databases.
- Excellent project management skills, including deadline adherence, workflow management, and multi-tasking.
- A fundamental understanding of fisheries, aquaculture, and seafood sustainability.
- Familiarity with supply chain operations, traceability, and market-based conservation is a plus.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and communicate it clearly to diverse audiences.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION
- This is a full-time remote position, based in the US.
- Project Manager salary range: $60,000-$66,000.
- Selected candidates will be placed in the beginning of the salary range and have the opportunity to advance through the range based on satisfactory performance and time in the position.

- Work hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. (PST or EST, with flexible scheduling options contingent on supervisor’s approval.)
- Evening and weekend work will sometimes be required.
- Occasional business travel and personal transportation may be required.
- United States work authorization is required.
